Greenville, SC sure has come a long way from the days I was growing up in the city years ago. Just a few months ago, the city welcomed the Grand Bohemian Lodge to their skyline. A perfect addition to the downtown’s scene. Let’s take a look…
Location: If you haven’t been to Greenville, SC lately, it’s booming! From big companies moving there to a great food and event scene. Falls Park has been the heart of Greenville since its opening and to see the area flourish is exciting. The Lodge is located an easy ride in from the highway and in the heart of it all. Walk across the bridge and you’re on Greenville’s main downtown street. Like Charleston, this Main Street has everything to offer: restaurants, bars, shopping, experiences, gyms, etc. The location is prime to say the least. Kessler did a phenomenal job at making sure the property truly fit into the area in between the falls and the city. I love that they added to the beauty of the trails and streets surrounding the property.
Room + Design: I was lucky enough to have a room facing the falls and on the spa level. Like many other Kessler properties, these rooms are spacious and so well thought out. As you walk into the room there is a beverage station with an in-room Nespresso machine – big bonus points for us coffee lovers out there! The finishes are elevated, plush and luxurious with details at top of mind. Like the other bathrooms we’ve seen from the Kessler collection, this bathroom is spacious. One of my favorite parts of this room was the cozy table for two in the room. Eating breakfast there with the falls in the background was the perfect way to start each morning. And let me tell you, I’m not even a sleep in kind of person, but these beds – they deserve an award. I slept in one morning and didnt get up because it was so cozy. We definitely also used our balcony – opened the door and let fresh air and sunlight in. Right on the falls it was hard not do this with those amazing views and calming sounds.
Food & Drink: Not only is The Lodge a great place to stay for their rooms, but it’s a happening spot for food and drinks also! Starting with a beautiful lobby bar – yes, you know I had to do the caviar. Enjoy your drink on the back veranda viewing the falls, walking through the gallery or sitting in the cozy library. Want to continue on the beverage tour? Head down one level to Spirit and Bower, a whiskey lounge on the lower level of The Lodge. A moody bar with a great selection of whiskey, cocktails, and bites. Plus, enjoy outside year round with views of the falls and large fire pits. We were lucky enough to also get to enjoy in room dining and brunch from The Lodge’s restaurant, Between the Trees. Yes, I put that little table in the room to use and I also ate breakfast in bed – Maverick even got to enjoy some bacon.
Between the Trees is a modern and inviting space surrounded by views of Falls Park, the Falls, and trails of downtown Greenville – with the continued touch of moody and layered vibes. A bar with views of the kitchen sits at the heart of the restaurant and opposite it a double sided fireplace that continues outside on the wrap around porch. We opted for the bar to get a good feel of the team and watch the food come to life. The bar staff – very knowledgable, willing to describe the drinks further and provide info on some of their favorites. The food – full of flavor in every bite with great presentation. Great portions – definitely fitting for the southern cuisine and great for that person that likes trying a little bit of everything. Pro tip – always get the Lobster Beignets, super delicious. Another fun fact is that the kitchen sources a lot of their veggies, fish, cheeses, and more from local farmers and businesses. We love a space that supports local! And if you needed anymore of a reason to go – they offer brunch DAILY – yes, for all of us brunch lovers you read that right. The restaurant also serves breakfast and dinner. And yes, it’s just as good just to stop by for a glass of wine or cocktail, even light bites. The atmosphere and views are worth it.
Spa: The spa is located in the lower level of the hotel and feels like you are entering a whole new place. Think like a Moroccan cave full of crystals and leading to a tranquil space. The moment you walk in the experience begins. A hand towel treatment at the front desk activates your visual, touch and smell senses with a warm aromatic hand towel tablet that comes to life right before your eyes. The smell triggers a relaxing and tranquil feel to prepare you for entering the spa. Once inside you head to the locker room and slip into a comfortable robe to enjoy the relaxation room before treatment. Refreshments are available to enhance your relaxation. The treatment rooms are contemporary and serene. I chose the XX minute massage, added the body butter, and the hot stones. Let me tell y’all the add ons at the Poseidon spas are always worth it. This is my fourth Poseidon Spa experience and it is probably my favorite out of all of them. The massage by XXXX also falls in the top 5 I’ve ever had. Truly a great experience. The staff by the way – super knowledgable, passionate, and overall incredibly friendly. They made the experience that much better.
The Lodge definitely wowed like we expected it to from every aspect. The property caters to everyone. I must say too if you’re one to travel with your pet – Maverick had a blast. Even the housekeeping team on our floor knew Maverick’s name as soon as she saw him – without us even telling them. The team went above and beyond to make sure every detail of the property and every detail through their team is top tier. We will definitely be back to create more memories at this beautiful property.
